Kochi Castle was built by Kazutoyo Yamauchi from 1601 to 10 years.
Kochi Castle was burnt down once in 1727, but it was rebuilt in 1753, and the only building in Japan, such as the castle tower and the palace, has survived since the Edo period.
Kochi Castle is also called "Hawk Castle" because the white walls of Tosa plaster and the gray color of the tiled roof resemble the wings of a hawk, and it was selected as one of the "Three Great Night Castles in Japan" along with Osaka Castle and Takada Castle.
The castle tower is equipped with various devices such as "stone drop" and "sneak-back" in preparation for an enemy attack, and "sneak-back" is the only existing castle in Japan.
Kochi Castle is now a tourist destination as an important cultural property of the country, and it is lit up at night.
In recent years, the castle tower has been decorated with various colors and designs by projection mapping, and night events have become popular.

Ryuga Cave

Ryuga Cave is one of the three major limestone caves in Japan and is a tourist destination that represents Kochi Prefecture. The number of visitors was 1973, and there were 1.09 million visitors annually. At that time, many large sightseeing buses entered the parking lot from the morning. After that, the number of tourists gradually decreased due to the deterioration of facilities, the decrease in group trips, and the lack of information dissemination. Over the last few years, the number of invaders has remained between 100,000 and 110,000 per year. Therefore, the Ryuga Cave area revitalization project was started in order to regain the bustle of the past. For example, for sightseeing in limestone caves, we have established an "adventure course" and a "west main cave course (water cave course)" in addition to the conventional "sightseeing course".Also, targeting families, in the fall, the event "Hello! In Ryuga Cave-Autumn Adventure Story-" will be held, and in the winter Valentine's season, "Explore the Cave of Hearts @ Ryuga". "Ryuga Cave" was held. During the one-week event, the number of visitors was more than 140% compared to the previous year. People in the area say that the image of Ryuga Cave has changed.

Camphor tree

Shikoku's largest camphor tree, estimated to be 2000 years old, stands at Suga Shrine, about 300 meters north of Nomi Fishing Port in Susaki City.
This camphor tree is a large tree with a circumference of about 25 meters and a height of about 25 meters, and was designated as a national natural monument in 1924.
A part of the trunk was broken due to several typhoons and repaired with tin, but the branches and leaves of the trunk that survived are still healthy and vigorous.
There is a cavity in the main trunk, and the god of camphor tree is enshrined.
It is said that sick people will be healthy, and many people come to pray for the growth and health of infants.
The shrine is inside a cavity that allows worshipers to enter and pray.
A long time ago, all the people in this fishing village had a wedding ceremony at Suga Shrine, which has this big camphor tree.
For the people of the fishing village, this giant tree is also a symbol of the beginning of life.

Tsunoyama Kagura

Tsunoyama Kagura, which represents Tsunoyama culture, is said to have been introduced when Fujiwara Tsunetaka entered Yusuhara from Kyoto in 913, and is designated as an important intangible folk cultural property of Japan.A fun " Kagura dance " that combines light music and dynamic movements can be seen everywhere in Yusuhara Town during the autumn festival to thank for a good harvest. The Kagura dance consists of 18 verses, and it takes about 8 hours to complete all the dances.Dance is simple and has a majesty that makes you feel the history of more than 1,000 years. It is popular because its content is simple and anyone can understand it.
On the day when Kagura is dedicated, many tourists come from outside the prefecture.
Kagura dance has a strict method of "advance left and retreat right" and "start right seat left".This is because "movements that deviate from the principle cannot comfort the heart of God," which is a strict aspect of kagura dedicated to God.In 1945, due to the influence of the war, there was only one legitimate successor, but after that, the Yusuhara Town Tsunoyama Kagura Preservation Society was established, and members in their 20s to 60s have inherited it.
