Town
Mt. Godaisan

This is a view of Kochi city from the observation deck of Mt. Godaisan at an altitude of 150m.
About 300,000 people live in the city.
Kochi city area was a sea 1000 years ago and a wetland 500 years ago.
Kochi Castle was built about 400 years ago, and samurai and townspeople began to live in it, and the castle town has developed.
The castle town became a burnt field in the air raids of the US military in 1945, but after the war, the city was redeveloped and rapidly revived with high economic growth.
Japan's bubble economy, which lasted from 1986 to 1991, had little effect because there are no large companies in Kochi, but for the past 30 years, high-rise apartments and hotels have been built in the city area, and the cityscape of Kochi has become quite impressive. It became beautiful.
I have been watching the changes in the scenery of Kochi city from Mt. Godai for 60 years, and I like the scenery now.
Sunday Market

Kochi's "Sunday Market" is the most famous tourist spot in Japan, boasting the longest history and scale.
The Sunday market has a history of about 330 years, originating from the street market that was approved by the 4th feudal lord of the Tosa domain, Toyomasa Yamauchi, in 1690.
The Sunday market currently has about 400 stalls open and is held every Sunday from sunrise to sunset, with an average of about 17,000 people visiting each day.
The Sunday market sells daily necessities such as vegetables and fruits, wild plants and seafood, country sushi, sweets and drinks, woodwork and antiques, cutlery and plants.
My favorite is potato tempura. The way to enjoy the Sunday market is to take a walk while listening to Tosa dialect and eating potato tempura.
Makino Botanical Garden

The Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden in Kochi City is one of Japan's leading comprehensive botanical gardens that clearly exhibits the achievements of Dr. Tomitaro Makino, the father of Japanese botany and a world-famous botanist.
In the park, you can enjoy 3000 kinds of seasonal plants throughout the year, including the cherry blossoms that Dr. Makino loved.
The memorial hall, which is in perfect harmony with nature, was designed by architect Hiroshi Naito, and was created in collaboration with the latest computer analysis technology and Tosa's traditional technology. It has received a national reputation as an "excellent environmentally friendly building that takes the landscape into consideration."
As a place for excursions for children, a place for seniors to relax, and a place for young couples to take pre-marriage shots, Makino Botanical Garden is creating new green spaces every day.
Tram

The trams that run in the city of Kochi have at least four records, which are the best in Japan. One is that it opened in 1904 and has the longest history in Japan among the trams that still run. The second is that the total length of the track line (25.3 km) is the longest in Japan. The third is that there is the shortest tram stop in Japan (Seiwa Gakuen Mae-Ichijobashi: 63m).
The fourth is that you can see a "triple cross" where "three trains enter the same intersection at the same time". The "Harimaya Bridge" intersection in the center of Kochi City is a "Diamond Crossing" where railroad tracks cross in a plane, which is rare in Japan. On the electric bulletin board of the Shikoku Bank head office at the intersection, the message "Miracle at 8:12 am, triple cross" is displayed every morning.
To see this miracle, many tourists go for an early morning walk to the Harimaya Bridge intersection every day.
My YU Bus

If you are a tourist without a car and want to go around sightseeing spots on the outskirts of Kochi City, we recommend using the "MY Yu Bus" as the most reasonable method.
If you buy a 1000 yen one-day ticket, you can go around sightseeing spots in Kochi city such as "Makino Botanical Garden" and "Katsurahama" from "Kochi Tabi Hiroba" in front of JR Kochi Station via "Harimaya Bridge". In addition, by presenting your MY Yubus ticket, you will get convenient and advantageous benefits such as free road train (within the 200 yen section) and discounts on admission to tourist facilities.
If you come to Kochi, take the "MY Yu Bus" and enjoy sightseeing in the suburbs of Kochi City. There must be new encounters and discoveries.
